This presentation will include a review of the impact of non-nutritive sweeteners on the immune system. Non-nutritive sweeteners have been shown to depress the inflammatory marker, Interleukin 6 (IL-6). Low levels of IL-6 have been correlated with insulin resistance. Insulin resistance can lead to weight gain and blood sugar issues.
At the completion of this course the attendee will be able to:
1. Identify patients who may benefit from a nutritional intervention to address fasting blood glucose levels that are above the normal range.
2. Recommend a nutritional support program to address the dysglycemia.
3. List the outcome measures that will be performed pre and post intervention
