In the first portion of this seminar, Dr. Hewitt will provide a comprehensive discussion of the chiropractic management of common sports injuries and extremity conditions in the pediatric population, including details of diagnosis (appropriate anatomy, history, examination and imaging) and treatment (in-office, home care and rehabilitation). Dr.Hewitt will demonstrate extremity adjustments that are unique to the pediatric patient, utilizing video clips of treatment sessions from her office. Her goal is to enable attendees to be comfortable and effective when managing common sports injuries and extremity conditions in pediatric patients, through the acute, post-acute and rehabilitative phases of healing.
In the second portion, Dr. Hewitt will present an in-depth discussion of in-office
evaluation and co-management of the post-concussive pediatric patient. Dr. Hewitt will discuss common signs and symptoms of mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI), and how to recognize when immediate medical attention is needed. Included will be discussions of appropriate short and long-term management, including detailed return-to-school and return-to-play guidelines. Online resources will be provided, so the practitioner can stay abreast of the latest developments in this quickly maturing field.
