1) The Diagnosis and Treatment of Active, Inactive and Pending
Spondylolysis/Spondylolisthesis: Understanding this very common condition
a. This condition is more common than most physicians realize and many have no understanding of it’s presentation, of the appropriate tests that should be done or the appropriate treatment.
b. This condition is prevalent in adolescent athletes and a missed diagnosis or
inappropriate treatment recommendation can have horrific long-term effects on a young athlete.
c. I’ve had the wonderful opportunity of specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of middle and high school athletes for the past 20 years. I’ve been the Director of Sports Biomechanics and Sports Injuries at CBA for the past 9 years. I’m in the school one day per week treating students. In addition, I lectured for 9 years (55 seminars) with Dr. Terry Yochum, the nation’s leading authority on this subject. His 4 hour presentations included something new each and every time.
d. I will review the presenting symptoms, the diagnostic work-up, the appropriate recommendations and the overall management of the patient and their family.
