Most risk management lawsuits and state board professional misconduct complaints relate to issues of incompetence, negligence, sexual boundary violations and absent or insufficient recordkeeping. Clarity of these issues in today's practice atmosphere is a must. This course will take a deep dive into examples of four sanitized actual cases representing those issues. The patient encounter from the doctor's as well as the patient's conduct, administrative, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions will be reviewed. The official outcome of these cases will be discussed including the strategies used by the complainant and respondent, expert witnesses, and the decision-making process of the adjudicators.
