DESCRIPTION
Course Objectives: There is only one nutrient that one must have every minute – oxygen. While this nutrient is always vital, it takes center stage in a time of respiratory pandemic. This course will review the biology of breathing to as it related to chiropractic. Practical aspects of this material will be discussed, particularly in terms of clinical assessment and patient education.
Statement of Purpose: A look at the biology of breathing through a wide angle lens, will reveal the relevance of chiropractic care to cognitive function, digestion, and cardiovascular physiology, as well as respiration per se. Along the way, often-overlooked physical examination steps will be considered in terms of their potential value in the chiropractic analysis. Breathing exercises usable in any style of practice will be introduced.
Overview of Course: The course begins with the applied anatomy of inspiration and expiration. After an examination of the respiratory benefits of the chiropractic adjustment, approaches to enhance patients’ respiratory health through selected exercises will be covered.
